Francesca Lobb
Francesca is a local maker who continues to develop a collection of jewellery and personal possessions inspired by everyday objects from her studio based in Halifax.
With a keen eye for intricate detail and a curiosity for pre-owned items, Francesca creates a range of handcrafted contemporary jewellery and personal possessions. Her work focuses on how an object evokes enjoyment and significance for its owner through familiarity and engagement. Creating intricate designs using traditional metalworking techniques in an innovative way she creates a collection inspired by interrogating second-hand items and our interactions with our everyday belongings, ranging from matchsticks to paperclips. You can often find her hunting through second hand markets and vintage fairs for inspiration and objects that she can adapt and incorporate directly into her work. Each design is created with the hope of initiating a response through the recognition of existing everyday objects that have inspired each piece, with an added narrative through the adaptation of second-hand items, some of which become wearable and others that are merely companions to our everyday lives.
Since graduating from Manchester School of Art in 2016 Francesca has continued to develop her knowledge and skills within jewellery making working as a bench jeweller at Selina Campbell jewellery in Manchester as well as developing her own business in Yorkshire taking on bespoke commissions including re-cycling and remodelling of peoples own gold jewellery into new designs.
