Sara Bukumunhe
Sara Bukumunhe was born in Uganda in the early 70s and moved to Britain, aged nine, settling in Yorkshire, where she now has her home and studio in Shipley.
Sara fell in love with Jewellery making in her late twenties and has forged a career by creating wearable, beautifully made pieces.
To create her sewn collection, Sara drew on her childhood memories of collecting pebbles on the beach and a fascination with the magical quartz lines that ran through them; reminding her of different stages in her life. She took influence from her grandmother who carefully taught her to sew and has incorporated this love of textiles in every piece.
She works mainly with sterling silver, using traditional Silversmithing techniques to make contemporary jewellery.
